LONG DISTANCE BUSES - DAR ES SALAAM
Be aware that speeding is a big problem. In general the more you pay the better the service in terms of safety, and reliability. Below is a bus which many people find reliable. Other buses can be found at the central bus station. There are many reports by travellers about Buffalo bus services, which many reports of serious overspeeding.
TRAVELLING SOUTH
Buses operate to all the main towns and leave each morning from the main bus stand. Tickets can be booked in advance at the stand, or there are always spaces available on the day - just turn up. Often the more you pay, the better the service in terms of safety, and reliability, but not guaranteed. Prices can vary from time to time.
ARUSHA AND BEYOND

Smaller Toyota buses (Coasters and Hiace's) run all day to Arusha. Best to cath these at the main bus stand. One can also use the Nairobi shuttles to travel to Arusha.

LOCAL TRAVEL

Small buses (dala dala in Swahili) travel to most of the local destinations: KCMC, Kiboroloni, Machame, Kibosho, TPC etc. Generally if you stand in the right place, they'll pass you, stop and one of the guys in the bus will shout the direction the bus is going - just get in. The Central Bus Stand is the place to start, but opposite the courts on the old Arusha Road, Arusha Roundabout, south of the market along the double road, and at the YMCA are good starting points.

Taxis
From the Clock Tower, Bus Stand, Arusha Roundabout and upper market area on Market Street.
